A Whirlpool dishwasher depends on strong water circulation to clean dishes properly. During a normal wash cycle, the circulation pump pushes water through the spray arms, creating enough pressure to rotate them and distribute water throughout the tub. When the spray arms stop spinning, dishes may come out dirty even though the dishwasher completes the cycle normally.
Several problems can cause this symptom. Food debris may block the spray arm openings, the filter may be heavily clogged, or the circulation pump may not be producing sufficient water pressure. Identifying the cause early can prevent continued poor cleaning and possible damage to other dishwasher components.
